OR inshort ...the statements written on the page ..are all mutually exclusive events ...hence only 1 can be true at a time ..that means rest 99 hav to be false ...hence the 99th statement is true
On a sheet of paper the following statements are written-

nice puzzle..
see here..http://stason.org/TULARC/self-growth/puzzles/332-logic-hundred-p.html
is it 99 statements false ??
i went the reverse way ...first i assumed the last statement to be true that " 100 statements are false " this implies that 100th statement shud also be false ...but i already assumed it to be true ..wich contradicts ...
Now let us assume 99th statement to be true wich is " 99 statements are false"......now since 99 statements are false .......only 1 can be true ...wich is the 99th statement itself ..... and we hav assumed only that statement to be true .....
NOw we dont need to see for the 98th statement .... bcz if more than 1 statement is true ... then we will hav to accept 2 mutually exclusive statements simultaneously wich cant happen .....i mean for example we assume 98 th statement to be true ..wich implies 2 statements are true and rest 98 false ....
now we hav chosen 98th statement to be true and we can hav 1 more statement to be true ..... if we choose any other statement at random ..... it will contradict our assumption ......
hence only the 99th statement is true .....
sorry if u didnt understand wat i said above [5]
Even if only the 1st statement's given, what IS the statement whose validity is being spoken about? My question didn't make sense to me itself, so the answer's..if I had to pick, 99. The only true statement is 'Exactly 99 statements are false' out of 100 statements written.
