Easy Algebra Question for All - 3

An insect is at the bottom of a tree that is 12m tall. Its takes 3 min 20 secs to crawl around the base of the trunk once. After this the insect starts to crawl up the trunk of the tree in a regular spiral. It makes 4 rounds of the tree and reaches the top of the tree at a point directly above the point from which it had started. If the speed of the insect is 2 cm/s, what is the time taken to reach the top of the tree from the moment it starts to walk in a spiral?

(Assume the tree to be a right circular cylinder)

1. 13 min 20 s
2. 16 min 40 s
3. 17 min 20 s
4. 18 min
5. 19 min 40 s
