@shraman the derivation is wrong
first of all 1+x+x2 + .... = 1/1-x is valid only if lxl < 1 u have taken x=1 so not valid
secondly, ln(1-x) = -(x+x2/2 + ... ) and NOT x+x2/2 + ...
