put it as zero..
get the relation with x2 of x1.
now i think you have a single function of x2

The two curves are :
1.y^{2}=4x
2.y=x+2
Now, think about the distance between two points one on each curve and you will get the square-root of the same expression.
so, we find the minimum distance.
is there any problem now?
