1as it sapolynomial fn so it must be continuous n now it s taking diff sign values for a n b so fn ko ye dono value attain karne ke liye x axis ko cut karna hi hoga u cannot make a graph which satisfy both continuity as well as diff sign of graph at an b bt not cut x axis

when you add both you will get the actual graph..
1hey if the function value at x=a is positive
and at x=b is negative ...
then there is always atleast 1 root lying between a and b..
provided the function is continuous in [a,b]. ...
that is wat they had shown in the proof..
f(c)<0 and f(d)>0 so there is atleast one root between c and d.
