I used this though i am not able to get the correct value of x and y that satisfies it..
look at this...
first eqn. can be written as
6x + 5y2 = 7x + 3y + 12 = x + 6y - 1
Now, we know that
if a/b = c/d then a/b = c/d = (a - c)/(b - d) right..
so
5x - y + 1 = 7x + 3y + 12
=> 3x - 5y = -1 (1)
Next,
Applying the same in the second one...
(2x - 4)/9 = (x+2y-14)/3
=> 2x - 4 = 3x + 6y - 42
=> x + 6y = 38
=> 3x + 18y = 114 (3)
performing (3) - (1) gives,
23y = 115
=> y = 5 and thus x = 8
