i think the best way would be to try and think of what happens when the deno is positive... what when it is large.. what when it is small..
hmm... isnt that a not so good way to plot the graph sometimes...
I always believe in drawing graphs from instincts and not from finding the first and 2nd derivatives and spoiling the fun (at times)
And that is why some purists will hate me ;P

and the method i said is sufficient for plotting graphs that are there in JEE syllabus...isnt it??
but for other graphs i have to go by your way...:)

I got your method kalyan and there is nothing wrong with that either...
My method is to draw the graph of (x^2+1) and then draw its reciprocal
y = 11 + x2
