IF the limit exists.. An = An+1 = L ( let )

Thus, if the limit exists, it will imply that

x=(x+a/x)/2

x=a/x

x=√a

I tried to use excel to confirm my result but surpringly I am not getting the same answer :(

You should, because this is one of the algorithms used to find out the square root of a number
