Consider (x2/a2)-(y2/b2) =1.
this intersects x-axis at (±a,0) and doesn't intersect y-axis at all. So why do we find (0,±b) ?????????

'b' is actually a derived term which is used to give an analogy to the form of equation used for ellipse.
b≡√c2-a2
'c' being focal distance
