The question in which I am having a problem is as follows:
Prove that the point on the curve y2=x,at which a tangent makes an angle of 450 with the x-axis is (14,12)
My doubt: If we find the equation of a tangent at the point (14,12) to the parabola y2=x ,then the slope of the tangent does not come out to be 1.But if we find the point on the parabola using (am2,2am) then we get the point (14,12).How can this be possible?

m is the parametric coordinate.. it sdoesnt have anything to do with the slope directly.. (It is a by product)
The slope at the point you have given comes out to be 1/2y = 1/1 =1
