1okay sir, no issues with the ragging part. yeah, i thot of picturing myself as a senior. ( in dat case i cant imagine myself ragging sumone). proly u guyz r rite. about the climate, yeah, a person who's grown up in the place wont have any issues, but for ppl like me, its a different place all together. but no issues with this as well. as from now on, madras, is my city as well ;), and il get used to it in a couple of months

1are u serious cele? (bout' no ragging) becoz i heard from a senior frnd from my place dat it happens to a nice extent.. i went to madras on the 16th, the only thing that troubled me(apart from language problem ofcourse) in the city was the humidity.

it makes u think iitm is the best insti in the world with no ragging at all :)

till 2004 this double rooms were actually occupied by 3 ppl only !
ie it was built for 3 ppl
then suddenly they built new hostels and gave luxury of 2 ppl in that 3 seater room
now after inc in seats this batch doesnt enjoy that luxury
so i think all this are well planned
thats why im not angry anymore :)
624 years back the room to student ratio in all IITs was good.. with slight variation..
But after the sudden enforcement of reservation and increase in the student intake all IITs are crippled with a flow of students.
This was in the pipeline for 5-10 yrs adn the target of doubling student intake by 2010 was there since eternity.. but all IIT management is as lazy as any govenment institute and you can see the results..
1GUYS......dont worry about hostel rooms yaaaar....
it wudnt be that congestedd too...
we need space for sleepin and studying...
and i think ther will be plenty for it........
so dont worry bour hostel management..

1as far as the sc thing goes.., i totally agree wid u..one of my frnz, scored jus around 130 marks in JEE 2008, and has got mech. MTech BTech dual in one of the best IITs.., u cant even imagine how rich he is...(all ill say is hes super rich), so where r v going if v go dis way...,i mean one can only imagine whats gonna happen wid dis much of it 10 yrs dwn d line..
1bhai.., when i said Chem Vs Mech , dual, there is also sumthing called interest rite...i mean the person i was speaking abt had no interest for chem. engg. at all...but jus picked it up for 'bombay'...okay, u mite say chem aint all about chemistry..., but still...anyday, id say, u need to do what interests u than the place that interests u rite..

i already know some SC guys gettin Air 1000s but SC20s and get into high demand courses .
its fine as far as they r really poor , but some SC guys i know have gone for fiitjee 4 yr classroom pgm by payin lakhs

u see main reason why iitk and iitkgp has no demand is cos there are no toppers from that region
delhi has decent amount of toppers
chennai had jus 5 in top100 and those in karanataka prefer bombay cos theres better competition there rather than chennai

chem dual is more paying than mech dual gordo
1i really donno how sumone can actually settle in for sumthing like meta jus for the sake of 'powai', when he gets sumthing like mech or sumthing in sum oder IIT...i know ppl who settled in for a chem. dual in IITB instaed of taking a mech dual in madras..
9hmm brand value iitb is supposed to be best
its bcos many students gettin top ranks are frm that region only thanks to their rigorous coachin and push from parents . So they prefer studyin there only
previously kanpur was supposed to be that cos of a traditional view that faculty there is the best
but for me wherever i go , that will be best :P
