my Q
arent both iitm and iitb following similar curriculum
why vast diff in timings ?
the source is not so clear about the timings of all the courses in both the IIT's.I think both the IIT's hav different no of degrees to offer. IIT B has more courses and IIT M has less.so the day's allocation is more in IIT B. so in that view the time table is almost justified
my lnowlegde n ma talk with a proffesor at kanpur says dat all iit s a have dif curriculum even 4 the same branch!!!!!
yes but then why is there such a huge difference ?
if classes end at 8 pm there will be little time for self study and playing isnt it ?
and if u try counting no of courses offered in the brochure IITM has most no of courses offered !

for IIT Kanpur,
for the first year, 8.00 am to 1.00 pm
lab sessions from 2.00 to 5.00 pm
working days from monday to friday.
sir can u pls tell the reason on such vast diff in timings
is it that well be taught less in IITM while in IITB we are taught a lot ??
NIT Trichy timings:
for the forst year
Monday to friday timings:
8.30 am to 12.20 pm(lectures)
2 pm-5 pm practicals/workshops
2 days a week classes begun from 10.00 instead of 8.30
(those were cld half days :P)
9.30 to 10 was a short break
we cant judge an institute by the no of hrs of teachin.....
There may b slight variation in d syllabus 4 the same course...but the method may b differenr(i mean d approach--like very gud prof in particulr department may take less time to explain things) or the major one may b the no of holidays...I heard that IIT-kgp is giving nearly 10 days hols....for durga pooja...but in IIT-M it is given 1 week durin pongal ....so the total no of workin days may change...On the whole no of working hours will b almost same....
you will not be in class at all the time mentioned.
there can be 2-3 classes someday and 4-5 other day.
like from third year, in mechanical, we had 2-3 hrs maximum class on Friday. So we had 2 and half weekends there
yes i understand that sir
but still if u see the workload at iitb >>> iitm
also a iitkanpurian told me that
iitk is best in academics
iitm abv par in acad
iitb laid back in acad
is that true ?
yup i was wondering the same
iitkanpurian chiragsangani told me (96 air )
also its a standard fact that competition is stiff in iitb
