2)the force on A increses instantly and it is atractive when they are op.
positely charged as f is invers prop. to r f increases
3) no as then they become of same potential
4) Small in the sense that there Electric feild is still present to hold each other if not then they are not close to each other hence it is no more of a dipole
Pls Explain The following to me:
1)Is there any lower limit to the electric force between 2 particles placed at a separation of 1cm?
2)Consider 2 particles A and B having equal charges and placed at some distance.the particle A is slightly displaced towards B.Does the force on B increase as soon as the particle A is displaced?Does the force on particle A increase as soon as it is displaced?
3)Can two equipotential surfaces cut each other?
4)It is said that the separation between the two charges forming an electrical dipole should be small.Small compared to what?

This is given by the quantization of charges.. Each charge is of atleast the charge of an electron
Now you can figure this out :)
2)Consider 2 particles A and B having equal charges and placed at some distance.the particle A is slightly displaced towards B.Does the force on B increase as soon as the particle A is displaced?Does the force on particle A increase as soon as it is displaced?
This question sis a bit tricky
Think in terms of the electric field formation ...
3)Can two equipotential surfaces cut each other?
Equipotential surface is just a concept
to be true there is a very little difference in equipotential surfaces of very little differnce in potential
The difference is just enough to touch each other
But in most books the answer given will be no!
4)It is said that the separation between the two charges forming an electrical dipole should be small.Small compared to what?
It should be small compared to the space in which that is applying a force or the distance of the point at which we are trying to ascertain the force
For ques no 1...I think the lower limit has to be the product of the magnitude of charges of two electrons or two protons.Since all other bodies carry charges in integral multiples of this charge. Is it correct?
And for ques no 2...I can't approach at the right answer. So pls tell me the solution.
Kartik ur 2nd answer is wrong....the force on A or B cannot increase instantly....it takes some time lapse...For the change 2 take place instantly the force must travel faster than the speed of light...which is impossible..Hence the change cannot take place instantly
