But what about those students who unable to focus on iit and wants to take drop

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) The joint entrance examination (JEE) for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is likely to become history from 2013 as the central government Tuesday decided to work on a common entrance test for all government engineering colleges.
'By 2013, we should have in place a common system for common admission into professional institutions in the country,' Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said Tuesday after meeting at least 20 school education boards from across the country.
Explaining the situation, HRD ministry joint secretary S.C. Khuntia said: 'We will work for a common entrance test for every stream. One examination for all engineering institutions, which means IITs will also follow it.'
'In that parameter, there should not be any separate IIT entrance,' Khuntia told IANS. 'Lets see, we have to work in that direction.'
'As per the score of the entrance, selection will be made. Let's say, the top rankers may go to IITs, the second bests will go to institutions which are a step below the IITs...so on,' Khuntia elaborated. 'The system will benefit the students most.'
After the meeting with school boards, Sibal said: 'We will be working towards a single entrance examination in 2013. We are setting up a task force for that.'
Explaining the situation, the minister said there will be single entrance for each stream. For example, admission to all medical courses may take place through one entrance examination and all engineering admissions through another common entrance.
Sibal said the task force would decide how to go about it and look into issues like the weightage the Class 12 board examination result will have in the admission procedure.

y india inspite of having a huge population is not able to top international olympiads
in imo china always tops , which is obvious as they have huge population
but we are no less , we are no.2
then y arent we securing no.2 in imo
the worst step.....
there r many disadvantages...
it will be really hard for average students and the ones who dont get
proper guidance.
then the exam will be held in in the large cities.....which means many poor people will have to travel fro smaller places to these cities....
many people cannnot afford staying in cities even for one day.
if there is any loop hole, papers will be leaked.....which in india is very much vulnerable to....i mean feed the clerks with liquor and then get the paper...tis will waste time as well as money
We are just seems like rats for the kapil sibbal
first experiment of CCE and nw this
this evil is going to destroy our nation, our education system
bring back the subjective iit....and don't merge any engg.entrances.......thereby you can reduce stress and increase the standard of iit's.........
Looks lyk Indian govt. is trying to follow other countries. Here is a look at engineering admission process in different countries

Really bad. I am not in favour of it at all. What if someone's ill?
nd as i think...
just six hours nd a single day is not enough to judge a student... !!
nd if hez not able to prove himself in those six hours... hez lost .... nd no other option for
AIEEE or other engineering exams is left as well...!!
My maths teacher said... the formula that ISI suggested for merging all the boards is something like this...
(y2 - m)/(x2 - m)
where m is the percentile score, y2 is the marks of the toppper of that particular board and x2 is our marks...!!
clearly, for toppers the ratio is going to be 1 but suppose in Bihar board where students don't get above 80% it is possible for a boy to score 90% (by approach nd all)... in that case the formula will make others blind... :P
nd this is not at all justified...!!
Kids are not objects and one cannot standardize them. It is a stupid and insensitive idea to force ALL kids to do one type of exam.
The MHCET for example is far easier than the JEE, so then this new test will probably have to tread a middle path and make a watered down version of the JEE where it will be too easy for some and too tough for others.
Besides how can board exam marks be criteria for admission into iit? They differ from state to state in i)quality of teaching, ii)paper setting, iii)conducting of examinations and in the iv)correction pattern.
Besides board exams in several states and small towns is just a sham. Students regularly indulge in mass copying with the connivance of the school (several times the newspapers and channels have reported this), a)there is also instances of mark sheets being tampered with, b)answer sheets being replaced, c)invigilators being threatened into submission etc . Every alternate year the board papers (and last year even the AIEEE) in many states are leaked. So is the board exam marks a sound basis for admissions to the iits? Will such instances not increase if more benefits depended on these marks.
Many children have been preparing for these exams for the last four years what about their efforts? Can they not be allowed to write the Jee and any changes be brought in gradually before other younger kids start their preparations?
Besides if they are unable to plug the paper leak with just the AIEEE how will they ensure it now for an exam on such a huge scale? Also will it be conducted in regional languages too?
What about parents who will now put pressure on the kids to top the board exams AND the entrance tests? I thought the whole idea was to reduce stress.
Besides that, lacs of students get above 90% in their board exams, so on what basis will they be chosen to be admitted in the iits? Is this a backdoor entry then for those with influence and money?
This is not being done with any honest intentions. Until now the politicians are not able to get their hands on the iit seats for their relatives and friends because the system of jee is too solid and transparent so now they want to make it obscure and confusing to take advantage.
Kapil Sibal is once again playing games with the lives of the children. (after the chaos of doing away with the CBSC 10th exams) Why is he making the situation fertile for corruption just when people like Anna are trying to fix it?
The chap is trying to kill the dreams of thousands of children. Its not like only the kids with money to attend coaching classes are affected, it’s more those from poor families, for whom iit was the only ticket out of their situation It is the kids coached by places like the Super 30 who will suffer as they may never make it to the iits in this flawed system and they cannot afford the huge fees of other colleges.
Most of all the reputation of IIT as a premier Institute whose hallowed precincts is only for the meritorious regardless of any other criteria will be ruined. It will be filled with the friends and relatives of the likes of Kapil Sibal.
in this situation what factors to be considered as beneficial & what are drawbacks ?
i think that one nation -one syllabus thing is good ,
but one nation - one exam - one day is not the right step
Morever i think our HRD ministry focuses on quantity and not on the quality
prophet sir's suggestion is also good....if they really want to help us....we should be given min 1 chance to give paper again.....
otherwise its not a stress buster....it will increase stress 1000 times...
i was diverging from the topic che(?)
i mean to say there is something seriusly wrong with system of education here
well i guess that online thing has already proved to be a big flop in india take for instance CAT....so i guess that wont work either here wer no of candidates sitting in it r much much greater than cat
actually des Hrd ministers since past hav no work except carrying on insane experiments on our education system......and i m totally against at wat dey r doing....one bad day and u r finished ! i think present sytem is much better and no need of doing anything in that...
and @ gr8 dreams u r diverging from topic...... forget IMO....that wont hellp u in anyway in teh long run...
There's a point there when they say that a bad hair day can ruin things. In that case it may be better to have the tests online like the SAT for US univs. That way the student can attempt the test at his/ her convenience and maybe take a second attempt in a few weeks if they feel they can score better.
tahts the problem....instead of concentrating on grass root level...they are focussing on reforming higher education....
can our beloved HRD minsitry tell us how many students in rural areas actually study upto class 5 even ???
instead of taking steps to get literacy rate going..,focussing on such things(one sylabus, one exam) will make matters worse
has he made any efforts to get all the scientists/engineers back to india ,who left us becoz of ZERO oppurunites here ???
Has he even asked the recent chem noble awardee Venkatraman Ramakrishnan to return to india and help in development
China isnt sending their men abroad....and thats why they are progressing......
if he is really sincere about helping students...then he must go to colleges/schools where daily suicides are beign reported..and bring in good reforms that help students to face stress and tension...rather than keeping students unaware of such a thing(abolssing 10 boars) and the none day telling htem to compete with lakhs of studnets with no second chance ...
and go to villages where parents dont have money to eat 2 meals, leave aside teaching for even 1 yr......
In a paper of 2-3 lakh students (JEE) where mass bungling has been reported.....doesnt he feel there would be bigger scams if more than 20 lakh studnets give exam on one day ????????
Instead of changing educational plans the HRD ministry can increase the library facilities. In my village theres no library. But the building is there,Even in my cousin's town theres no library.
This is wat i think.
1)Now students went for coaching classes mainly for physics, chemistry and maths, but after five or six years students will go for all the other subjects.
2)As a result after ten to eleven years one will find more institutes or tuition classes,so parents spend more money on coaching classes.
and students spend more time on coaching institutes.
3)The govt.will think of some other educational plans to decrease the number of coaching institutes.
The worst part i feel is that political influence will give u a seat at iits or at the nits
Thanx to the Mr.Sibal,Surely this is going to be a bang for TN students and especially to most of the teachers who donno wat is teaching.I feel dat mugging chapters will come to an end,And this is really gud for middle class and lower class students.
But the worst is that the competition for jee will get really high. After some years atleast two - three in every skool aim for the iit's!
kudos to eureka............[1][1][1]
shall we write to Mr. Kapil Sibal????????[3][3][3][3]
Anotehr bad move by our HRD ministry.............
there should be diff exams....or a good provison could be that common exam be held in 2-3 phases on diff days....and then best paper taken as final..[1]
sir then wat do u expect ... will d exam bcome tough or a bit easier ??
if it bcomes tough / easier , both options look -ve to me ,
nishant bhaiya i dnt agree to u.....come on.we shud have diff xams.......
ya.there's no 2nd chance, that day decides everything and thus leaving absolutely no margin for error.
uttara.. I slightly agree to you...
But there is another way to look at it.
Almost always ppl get the same rank in both the exams (IIT/AIEEE)
But having said that one bad day screws everything...
Yup it was going to and i am sure this is a +Ve change for everyone..
So far coaching institutes have been fooling students saying that they teach for AIEEE...
Even students fool themselves saying that they are preparing for AIEEE (cos there is no difference in the level and the preparation or syllabus) (barring a couple of chapters here and there)
