Your point is absolutely true if it had been given that y = f(x)?
But I doubt whether we can call x = f(y) as a function
no it is not a function
since if you draw a line anywhere on the x-axis , then it cuts the curve at 2 points
what is a function?
basically for a particular input you get only one output.
one to one mapping
correct me if am wrong.
here this is not the case.therefore it is not a function .

NO THATS NOT GONNA BE A FUNCTION BECAUSE FOR ONE VALUE OF X YOU FIND TWO VALUES OF Y........... BUT YOU KNOOW ONE TO MANY FUNCTION DOES NOT EXIST....
@fermat wat it think is , for the given parabola, y is not a function of x , but x is a function of y , i.e x = f(y)
or just rotate the graph by 90o , it will look like a function
OH SORRY I WOULD NOT SEE THE SECOND PART.......... IF THIS IS X=F(Y) THEN IT WILL DEFINITELY BE A FUNCTION..............
