i don't know weather i m right or not...but i read somewhere that its either because of the adhesion between the wall surface and the sticky substance on the feet of those creatures ....or there was another theory stating that its because of the weak van-der-wall forces..that makes it possible for them to cling too the wall surface...

You are right @ Astha. Insects and lizards have innumerable tiny hairs on their feet which increase the surface area and help the animals stick to walls through van Der Waals forces. van der Waals forces are weak forces, but because of the huge surface area the combined force between all the hairs and the wall becomes huge in magnitude, making insects and lizards stick to the wall.
