yeah ....i think both r correct ....
The two functional groups present in a typical carbohydrate are :
(1) -OH and -COOH (2) -CHO and -COOH
(3) > C = O and - OH (4) - OH and -CHO
which is correct i think 3 & 4 both are correct

i wrote 4
but the answer is 3 because it is not only aldehyde but also keto group......in case of carbohydrates....
ya i think if any will mark it then it will be deducted as in previous years it has given wrong option so i think ans given in coaching are wrong becoz both are correct and we cant leave have u talk to your teachers
yup i too had a doubt .. both are true .. aise rahul kitna aaya ??
actually only 3 is right wen u draw the haworth structures !!!!!!
so i marked 3 only
meh markd 4 .. bt thats truely controversial
cuz defination of carb is
carb r optically active polyhydroxy aldehyde or polyhydroxy ketone ........
i think both 3 ,4 both r correct as it is given in ncert defination of carbohydrate so i think CBSE has to allot +4 marks to those which had not marked these quest.
even wiki says the same. both 3 amd 4 are rite.
anyone who gets it rte will defend their method. thats obvious
they shud really
cuz emh also wrte 4
:P
n taht maths q also
bijctive wala
q 33 code B
guys... see keto and aldehydes both are carbonyl compounds....
Acc to defn of carboh. (NCERT) they are polyhydroxy carbonyl compounds.... either keto or aldehydes....but 3rd option will take both into account... whereas 4th is only aldehyde...
may be u r rite!!
AIEEE is surely trying to catch up with JEE standards
na............ bt u cnt say like dat u shud specify xactly..........
nw if i say i wanna attch a chloro group then ........alkyl halide......yeh bhi hota hai kya carbohydrates mein ?
i think past years they had given wrong question to test the brain of student this time he had given more than one option by which student marks the option to loose mark if he has bubbled it is my philosophy wrt this question so i had not marked it as in ncert it is written int is both keto and aldo both if we mark (3) then we shud mark (4) too..
