2nd level question

This is a question straight from Resnik-Halliday,although i cudn't find the answer anywhere in the book.(I got to know it frm a TV program)
We all know that a black-hole is a star that has collapsed into itself so that it has a very high value of gravity.so high that not even light can escape from its surface.IF light cannot escape from its surface then how can we dectect a Black-Hole!!

The answer is based on common sense.its nothing much to do with scientific knowledge.

Well the answer is not that tough as i said before. The image provided is very gud(Though i wanna ask how did u upload the image).Avtually we never see the black hole. The nature of the particles or the composition of the materials around the black hole gives us an specific idea that a black hole exists there.Otherwise a black-hole is not physically visible.
