Hi Arpan...isnt the ans clearly mgl/2...quite obvious na cause we have to consider CM to be at centre,i.e- l/2
A uniform rod of mass 'm' and length 'L' is made to stand vertically on one end. What is the potential energy of the rod in this position?
The answer is pure concept based.I have a few more better questions but those needs me to upload a few images frm my PC.When the mentors tell me how to do it,i'll post them also.

considering the entire mass 2 be concentrated at the centre of mass, it will be mgl/2.... is it correct??
Well,my question is whether the mass of the given rod is uniformly distributed? If the upper part of the rod were twice as heavy as lower part i.e l/2 the what would be the answer?
the title of the question should have been "a very idiotic question"!!!!!!!!!!
