In Searle's experiment, which is used to find out Young's modulus of elasticity, diameter of the experimental wire D=0.050 cm and length L=110.0 cm. A weight of 50 N causes and extension of X=0.125 cm. The maximum possible error in the value of Young's modulus is
(a) 4.89% (b) 2.89% (c)5.89% (d) 4%
no least count of the measuring instruments given
In that case what I suspect you have to do is use the significant digits to find the least count... (I am not 100% sure but my best guess :)
sir, in the sols that they have given,
they have taken into account the errors in all parameters except the weight. Should we not take into account that?
Btw for least count theyv used sig. figs. :)
