Now it will further be halogenated and it will give the haloform test.
For option (C), the substrate can be taken as
CH3CH2OH.
Ethanol is the only primary alcohol which gives the haloform test. After halogen substitution it becomes ethyl chloride. This will further be halogenated and will give the haloform test.
And to doubts regarding the medium, the haloform reaction is always carried out in a basic medium.

1Yes, in basic medium the halide group is substituted by the OH gropu. So it becomes an alcohol which has β-hydrogens. Thus it answers Iodoform test.
