read sumwhere that a bimolecular elementary reaction exhibits second order kinetics however it is not necessary that if the reaction is of second order, the reaction mechanism might not involve bimolecular collision
so when did i say its false...its true..............
all bimolecular reactions are of second order
but all second order kinetics do not undergo bimolecular collision
Bimolecular reactions must be of 2nd order kinetics...................the statement is true
but all 2nd order kinetics dnt undergo bimolecular reactions..
its like all human beings are monkeys but all monkeys arent human beings..
the first statement is true ... as in case of elementary reactions molecularity and order are same
Yep, true it is.
Elementary reactions are ones occuring in a single step. Hence, tht step itself is the rate determining step of the reac.n....so fr a bimolecular one, order will be 2.
ya everyone here
I agree it is true but it need not be "must" there may be cases right ???
Like this
A + B ----> C
R = k [A] [B]0
This is a bimolecular 1st order reaction na ??
In this case v cant say that the given statement "must" be true ?????
