priyam's right.... the universe has kinetic energy which gets converted to potential energy..... hence the universe expands... and the speed of expansion is getting slower. this is according to big bang theory as well as astronomical observations..
We know that increasing distance between 2 bodies increases gravitational potential energy.
We also know that the universe is expanding.
Then from where is this extra energy comming from?

How will the distance between the bodies increase?
Either an external force does a work on it.. so Potential energy increases... or initially it has Kinetic energy which decreases and hence at its cost PE increases...
Then our days and years should get longer.
But it is not happening.
As kinetic energy is decreases velocity decreases. So more time is taken for the same distance
don go on these.. if it increases at all... then also u can't notice that..
it will be 1 sec in thousands of years...
tru, the rate @ wich kinetic energy decreases is wud b very slow. Nd nyway d distance wont b d sem, the earth shud also move away frm the sun. But since in comparison 2 d universe our solar system is very small, there wont b ny noticeable difference.
Nyway, hu knew d tym 4 one revolution 10000000000000000000000000 yrs ago ;)
