because for x<0
0<e^x<1

so {e^x}=e^x

so log{e^x}=log(e^x)=x...

as we know an exponential function increases very quicky with ever increasing slope....and it takes up integral and fractional values at a very quick pace
so for x>0 its fractional part changes rapidly..hence its log
