why alkali metals Li , Na , K cannot b stored in water????

and what is meant by thermal stability???

because they r highly reactive metals as they have 1 electron in their outermost shell which can be lose easily .so they react with the water explosively if they r kept in it . that's y they r kept in kerosene rather than kept in water .
