the ionization energy of barium is less thn tht of radium....this is different whn we compare the general trend in the group?
does any one noe the reason???

because of the poor shielding effect of f-orbital there is a much greater force on valence electrons by the nucleus that's why there is a increase in ionization energy on going frm barium to radium
