charge transfer from oxygen atom to manganese and chromium, thereby lowering their oxidation states and making their configurations with unfulfilled d-orbitals ! ! [1] [1]

Charge transfer takes place from ligands to metal orbitals.
So, charge transfer spectra is the reason for color of these compounds.
