Why f- block elements' colour are constant in their respective compounds, whereas d- block elements' colour in their respective compound varies with their changing oxidation states?

The f orbitals are deep inside the atom and are largely shielded from the environmental factors such as nature of ligands and number of ligands...so there is not much variation in their colour...That's the reason given in J D Lee for this...
