u dun need to remember the reactions very much for JEE...
in 1 day u cant do it also! or may be u can,,, but i cudn have...
neways... do this... try to remember the result of each experiment...
like the colours of flame test, col of soln, col of ppt .. etc..
and go by JEE syllabus...
there are very few anions .. and cations also the common wala's....
n i dun remember A to Z... but trying a bit [6]

add KI , ... yellow ppt.
add HNO3, u will get white ppt.
add K2Cr2O7, brick-red ppt.
Hg2+ ------>>
add aqua-regia .
then SnCl2.
if ppt col changes from white to grey , its hg2+.
biggest clue for Hg2+ is that .. its insoluble in HNO3 but sol in aqua-regia.

add NH4OH + Na2HPO4... u will get a cryst. ppt.
