these kinda questions are very confusing...they shud specify whether they are asking the hybridisation of only the central element or the hybridisations of all the elements in that compound...
1 borax..it contains 2 sp2 hybridised boron and 2 sp3 hybridised boron and oxygen is sp3 hybridised..
2 PCl5 solid....(the word solid here means u have to consider it's lattice..[PCl4]+ tetrahedral and [PCl6]- octahedral....
3 H4IO6- contains sp3d2 hybridised I and sp3 hybridised O
4. N3P3Cl6 contains sp2 hybridised N and sp3 hybridised P
1→ A,B
2→ B,D
3→ B,D
4→ A,B
ok that means they have asked for the hybridisation of the central metal only in this question..but they shud have mentioned it...
Ya Actually even I made a mistake and gave an answer like Avinav's & was wondering about the ans given
Thanks Govind
