at first imagine that the mass 'm' is at the origin of the co-ordinate system hence from simple geometry we find that co-ordinates of 'M' is (L,0) now from the formula of the com we find the com is at a distance of ML/(M+m) from the mass 'm'
- ARKADYUTI BANDYOPADHYAY So I was right. Thanks - especially for that "statistical" tip. That gave me the idea I was searching for.Upvote·0· Reply ·2014-06-20 23:14:45
