doubt!!!!!!!!!

here the velocity imparted is not enough to take the pendulum bob to the highest position, hence it stops somewhere in the 1st quadrant where the tension can be zero but the velocity cannot !
from my earlier post on the same topic,
T2 = mv22 /l - mgcosθ (where θ is the angle with the vertical)
...as velocity cannot becoe zero, T2 = 0 => v22 =gl cos θ
...conserving energy(remembering the correct assumption of angles),
1/2 mv12 = 1/2 mv22 + mgl(1+cosθ)
...solving we get cos θ=1/3

well i have one doubt here, how can you assume that it stops in the 1st quadrant only and not in 4th quadrant as then height would becom l-lcos@?

check the initial velocity required to reach the border of the 1st and 4th quadrant. the velocity given in the question is more than that !
