its said that earth falls by 5 metres for every 8 km that we travel from the north pole towards the south pole.can anybody explain me this? nishant bhai u dont answer this.i want an iit aspirant to answe this.

and earth's distance from equator decreases by 5 metres when we travel 8 km from the north pole?

if we consider earth and the people as a system as there is no external force acting if we move by 8km.in order to make the center of mass at origin i think the earth moves by 5 meters
i think its obviously due to the curvature of the earth
if the earth would have been flat the earth (or ground) would not have "fallen"
