when a gas filled balloon rises up, it gains both kinetic energy and potential energy.....how does the principle of conservation of energy apply in this case??Explain..

Kinetic energy is the sum of the work done by the external forces...
So Kinetic + Po\tential should have been zero..
There is work done by bouyancy.. That is something you have to also consider.. :)
