TWO IDENTICAL TRAINS ARE MOVING ON RAILS ALONG THE EQUATOR ON THE EARTH IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. WILL THEY EXERT SAME PRESSURE ON THE RAILS? (W.B. BOARD)(3)

I think they exert different pressures. Look, the area is same on which a thrust has to be exerted.
Now comes the question of thrust force.
Earth rotates from west to east., Consider a train moving in the same direction (W to E) then mgeffective = mg - m wrel2r
where w rel. = w train - w earth.
Now for a train moving in opposite dir. (E to W) : w rel. = w train+ w earth.
So for the second case mg effective is less. so pressure exerted is less.
So unequal pressures.
now the condition that Earth rotates has not been given.....if it's so then pressures are equal.
