A 60kg body is pushed with enough force to start it moving across a floor and it continues to act afterwards. The coefficient of static friction is 0.5 and the coefficient of sliding friction is 0.4 . Calculate the acceleration of the body.

1 m/s2
- ARKADYUTI BANDYOPADHYAY Thanks,my answer was correct. Can you please show me how you worked out THIS question?Upvote·0· Reply ·2014-06-20 20:16:38

we know for static frictional force f=μsmg from here we get f=300(N)
for sliding friction f=μkmg which is=240
now net force on the block=(300-240)=60(N) then from nlm acc=60/60=1m/s2
- ARKADYUTI BANDYOPADHYAY Thanks for showing. I did exactly in the same way. By the way, stupid question, but, value of k is 1 in the SI system, right? (meaning if other units are taken in the SI system?)
