There important things in such questions...

1) The relationship between different tensions in the strings
2) The direction of tension (A lot of students mess up the direction of tension)
3) The relation ship between the acceleration of the different bodies involved. (This is teh most crucial step for all such problems)
4) The FBD
5) The Force Equations from newton's law
6) Solving these equations....

Try and answer each question one by one...

I will help you if you are wrong at each step..

Eq for m2:
m2g - T=m2a1

eq for m1:
T-m1g=m1a2.
[m2 and m1 are having the same acceleration as they are connected with the same string]

for m:
2T=ma3

Sir I am having doubt with the eq of m!!!!!!!!

There is a mistake...

for safety, always assume different accelerations a1, a2 and a3

then fidn the relation between them

Here you have assumed a1=-a2

which is not correct.. (Becasue we are using the ground frame fo reference)

Sir I have edited the eqs.
acc of m1 --- a1
of m2--- a2
of m ---- a3.
Do we have to consider it in this way????

m1 and m2 do not have the same acceleration...

btw what is confusing you is that they have the same accelaration with respect to the moving pulley.. not with respect to the ground...

m2g - T=m2a2

T - m1g=m1a1

2T=ma3

so

m2(g-a2)=m1(a1-g)=ma3/2.

Lokesh Verma ·

this is fine..

but you need to find a relationship between the accelearations using constraint relationship...

a1-a2=2a3 (That will be the result)
