The potential energy of a 1 kg particle free to move along X-axis is given by U(x)=(x44 - x22) J.The total mechanical energy of the particle is 2 J. Then the maximum speed (in m/s) is p√q. Find out p + q.
I got 2 answers i.e 3 and 8.Which of these is correct and why ?

speed or kinetic energy will be max. when U is min.
using calculus we can find min(U)=-1/4 J
as total mechanical energy=2J , kinetic energy = 2+0.25 J = 2.25 J = 1/2 MV2
hence V=3/√2
hence p+q= 5.
