ROLLING FRICTION DUE TO ITS NATURE TO OPPOSE RELATIVE MOTION SUPPORTS PURE ROLLING MOTION.THE MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION OF FRICTION IS SO ADJUSTED THAT THE BODY UNDERGOES PURE ROLLING MOTION.

3A body in pure rolling motion the friction force experienced by it is not rolling friction.It is the static friction.bcos the pt of the contact is instantaneously at rest.rolling motion and rolling friction doesnt have any connection
rolling friction appears when a rolling body gets deformed.
for example we find it difficult to go in a bicycle with airles tyres.This is becos of rolling friction.

i just wanted to convey the message that children think that rolling friction causes rolling motion.
Te terminology used is just pure convention and has nothing to with their names.
