nah u dont require to consider the longitudinal change in dimensions....

we can do this by two methods...one by integration method...or shorter average force method...
average force=0+W/2=w/2
stress=W/2A
strain=ΔL/L
(W.L/2AΔL)=Y
or, ΔL=WL/2AY............solved....verify...[1]
