how to find potential due to half figures(hemisphere, half shell etc) and also electric field , using known results for the full figures??
like in case of hemisphere do we simply reduce mass to m/2??

i dont think so.
for hemisphere, V at centre ≠0 while it is for the full sphere..
you have to integrate.

for finding potential , there are no components as such to be taken
we are simply integrating the field from infinity to 0
why doesnt changing m to 1/2 help???
PS :V at centre of sphere is not 0. it is -3GM/2R
