but here there are two adhesive forces that act in equal and opposite directions hence it wud be tougher.... i dont know abt one plate only... consider a glass tumbler placed on some water on a table... it is difficult to lift out..

i too think surface tension because... the two layers of glass attract the water molecules equally hence it acts like an adhesive between the two glass plates

if it had to do with surface tension, wud it not have been equally tough to lift the glass plate from water?
