Tell me why this is said?---explain

"In case of stable equilibrium,the centre of mass goes higher on being slightly displaced.For unstable equilibrium it goes lower and for neutral equilibrium it stays at the same height."

This is because for stable equilibrirm, on disturbing the configration, the energy should be minimum
