sign convention

i hav problems with sign conventions in work,power,energy

somebody told me to use co-ordinate sign conventions in the whole of mech.. is it a good idea

in work,

force and displacement if they are in the same direction, then the work done is +ve

same with power..

Potential Energy is the -ve of work done *(So that will give you the sign)
