Time peripod questiom....

The rod given in setup in fig1 is displaced slightly as shown in fig 2 find the time after which it will return to position in fig2

Take spring constant K, acc due to gravity as g, mass of rod m, length of rod L...

pulleys and string are ideal.

rather one extension n anther compression....

no spring extension is x.. both strings will extend.. they will not compress.. just imagine if the spring was not there.. what would have happened?

Springs can't compress....

if springs absent, wen middle displacement is y, end displacement 2y.
net displacement=y
but string is inxtensible.. so, if epring elongation=x, then
x=y/2 in each case.
so y=2x.
agn, y=2x=lθ/2
=>4x=lθ

(if not right, correct me)
