thanks for that ,rohan ,i never thought a rod would behave like a spring,i got the answer but
won't the distances moved by spring and rod be different,the one for the rod shold be much lesser than that of the spring?
One end of a long metallic wire of length L is tied to the ceiling .the other end is tied to a massless spring K,a mass m hangs from the free end of the spring ,cross area and youngs modulus of rod are A and Y,find time period for small oscill of m.
