so will the ans be i√2+(√2-1√2) j . am i right?
two rods of equal length, Rod-1 along X-axis and Rod-2 along the Y-axis are placed in such a way that the mid points of the two rods are at the origin and the mid points are welded at the mid point. the rod-1 move with a velocity given by the vector 0i+1j. the rod-2 moves with a velocity given by the vector i√2-j√2. what will be the velocity vector of the mid points?

It just a ' + ' with the point of intersection (i.e., the mid points of bot rods) at ORIGIN. Now just write the velocity expression for it and get the vector sum.
