Depressed........Devastated..........Can any one help me??

Heloooo

I am absolutely depressed and devastated ........that was the main reason I wasnt online for so many days.......
I am getting around 260 marks in JEE.......which is way below my expectations of 340-350....

.that means around about 1000 rank......[2][2][2]
I wont get Computer Science in IIT-Delhi which was my main aim.....so I have decided to drop a year unless I get into top 100 in AIEEE(though that too won't satisfy me)

Am I right????
As I don't have any intrest in electrical ,electronics,chemical.......and ofcourse not in civil.........So I dont have options left.........

Maybe C.Sc. from Thapar or DCE or even BITS could help.....

partial dropping idea looks good...but will demand a lot of money input.......[2][2]

eureka clearing jee that too comfortabily with air of top 1200 is by itself great ( though i know u deserve much more but call it bad luck )

i dont think dropping a year is advisable youll surely get good courses into the main IITS itself

but if u think of CSE alone ,then join a CSE in BITS (i m sure ull get that )

try jee next year and shift to IIT .

dont drop an year at all

ya infact this is what i was about to say
i heard of a person who got admission into MLN NIT allahabad
and next yr he got the desire rank in JEE and shifted to IITK
and there is something about him being sent to germany in just his 2nd or 3rd year !!

but to prepare for JEE in college should require gr8 amt of willpower i think

@eureka,i think u can get comp sci in guwahati/hyderabad and possibly roorkee

@Nishant sir,are the iits at guwahati and hyderabad good? and what about this course - math and computing?is it worth pursuing,is it more of math or comp?

eureka . I've a suggestion see , in the IIT's you've got the option of changing your branch
Do well in your first sem and you can change your branch .

U'd be better of doing that than dropping a year .

And your Chem disaster reminds of mine too .
lost around 60 mraks in my easy subject brought me down from 300+ to 225 . how'd u think I'll feel . I never thought I'd make such mistakes in chem and overall too I made 3 marking mistakes . that's 15 marks right ? marks which I deserved , but it happens mate. I accept that.

Anyway u'll get a better rank than me . I messed up and badly . else a good rank in the top 1000 atleast ,was a one which I was expecting .now I won't even dream such a thing cos of my below par performance in chem . this ruined everything .
so think well , talk abt it to your parents . don't take hasty decisions . it always ends u up in a place u don't want.

and btw i forgot to add...
though i thoroughly respect ur thoughts
i daresay that if i'd been getting a rank anywhere near 1000 i'd have taken it....
and i know 3 more of my seniors who loved C.Sc. and who have done the same (except one who got a rank of 100 something !)

from my view u dont really have to do a course in a subject u love to excel in it though if u manage to do it theres nothing better

yaar .. don't get so depressed .. u can achieve what u want if u have the will ... and i can sense ur shear determination .. u will get what u want ..

BUT O' GOD PLEASE SHOW ME THE WAY TO GET THAT WILL ....

yes eureka, u can do that... it's lyk partial dropping... n u'll get admission into first year as a fresher in IIT, if u couldn't make it out, u can continue second year in d same college... [1]

but one thing... u cannot write the entrance exam of an institute being a student of d same.!!! means, u cannot attempt jee next year if u take admission into IIT this year... n u cannot attempt BITSAT next year if u join BITS this year...

and what about that branch change as mentioned by srinath...........

anyone helping me??

24
eureka123 ·

ok.....ofcourse there is no problem with my concepts..........

but i have heard from my brother that in subjective paper u have to explain everything u use......no formulas are directly used(except a few basic ones)

As far as i know changing of branch in IIT is only for d student who backs first in the entire campus (a very rare option)... well, i dunno much about it. nishant bhaiya can give u a detailed information on this...

Coming to partial dropping, it's a gud option provided u r able to balance ur b.tech studies n jee-preparation... ignoring b.tech may let ur CGP go down completely and ignoring jee-preparation...... ahh, u can't ignore dat rite !! and moreover, why will it demand a lot of money input? if u join some college, then u must do self-preparation for jee... also dont take partial dropping by joining some local college, that's worthless... only if u get into BITS n some gud NITs then u can opt for partial dropping... dat too only when u r sure that u can handle the pressure of both college n jee...!!!

for time being, i would suggest u to stop this discussion till bitsat... later on, u can take a decision based on ur bitsat score n expected aieee rank. now don't waste tym thinking about this !!!

race is spot on dont think abt this now

eureka123 ·

oks..........

but race why do u say no money input???????
i would be paying whole first year fee which would be around 1.5 lac and then again pay the same if i get into IIT.......[2][2]

if u all insist i will take up this issue after BITSAT,,,,[1][1]

Yes Eureka.. exactly .. first wait for the otherexams and for IIT result as well..

What Race has said is exactly correct

It is easiest to get a branch change only in IIT Kgp not in other IITs..

having sadi that we should wait for the final results and for the other entrance exams as well..

yeah!! NCERT is sufficient for AIEEE!

kamalendu ghosh ·

1000 is a very gud rank in IIT!! but if u seriously consider dropping it is up to u!!(I would nt have done it!). Are u sure u wnt even get a dual course in com sci even at this rank??

1
kamalendu ghosh ·

i know guys at NIT Trichy(like me) who didnt just drop out but joined NIT (or BITS) and fought for JEE this year!! Well I didnt do too well!! but many did!! I used fought cuz u really need to fight to keep engg. + Jee prep balanced!! The rest is ur choice!

DONT THINK THAT AFTER GETTING INTO ANOTHER COLLEGE U WILL GET TIME TO PREPARE.....DONT EVER DARE TO THINK....I M IN COLLEGE I KNOW....HOW THE COURSE STRUCTURE IS DESIGNED......BETTER GET INTO UR FAVOURITE IIT AND WORK HARD IN UR IST YEAR TO SWAP UR BRANCH.....I KNOW 1 OF MY FRIEND WHO GOT 4000 ODD RANK ...GOT INTO IIT AND MANAGED TO GET INTO TOP 3-4% PPL AND WAS ALLOWED FOR BRANCH SLIDING.

Lokesh Verma ·

eureka..

I have had around 300+ guys whom i knew at IIT

out of them less than 20 are pursuing a career in what their department was... TO be true there are hardly any core jobs..
Most good jobs are either in finance or in comp science.

But that is the hard fact of life at IIT.

If you really want to pursue a career in comp science. then you can drop.. but in any likelihood you will end up doing something like that...

btw, Who does not want a comp science...?

eureka123 ·

thanx bro.........i too feel the same........its the branch which matters the most....becoz i have to spend my whole life working with it........and i am not studying just to earn money and fame........i want to change this world.......I want to bring revolution with my ideas....
