I will not compare last year or this year's paper because that paper always looks good in which you have not appeared,
what I can say is that this year paper contradict the vision of IIT itself i.e. reduce the importance of coaching institute, many questions were based on some "high figh coaching insti's formula books".
Here (@IITD) one from Bansal (or like) are rating paper as "are this can be easily done by that formula which xyz has told"
So overall I was disappointed by the paper.
So next year we are hoping to again see those people in Computer Science who don't know how to use a keyboard leave mouse. huh!! Same is the case in other branches..

According to me JEE 2010 was not at all upto the standards
When I opened the paper first thing I found was ORS had a misprint(Maths and Physics sections got interchanged),I found it really surprising to be honest,I had so much of respect for JEE previous day,I thought it is almost a perfect paper.
Then when I began to solve probs starting with Physics,as JEE questions always need very deep thining in it I(my mind set),I made a slow start coz I was analyzing questions very strongly, but as I proceeded I found that this paper requires very high speed,I then sppeded up,but I am not someone who has all formulas or shortcuts on my tips,I rather gave importance to concepts always ,so I felt short of about 15-20 marks in paper 1
paper was was more of test of Accuracy and Speed rather than knowledge and concepts
It really dissapointed me
Being a dropper with AIR 6789 last year, though I have managed to get around 260 this time, still I would say taking a drop for this kind of paper is useless, coz with these kind of papers it really matters how u perform on the D Day
Paper dekhe aisa lag raha tha 2-3 din mein jaldi jaldi mein paper bana diya hai
JEE questions were always something which make us proud while solving them,I did'nt get that feeling solving most of the questions today
IT was a disappointment really!!

one of the finest articles I found on goiit.com
rakshith's complete analysis of the question paper,'complete in all senses'
paper quality: cheap(as expected.... iit madras)
quality of questions:paper 1 few were those 'good ones' few hcv type, chem was GREAT,MATHS PAPER DEKHKE TO YAAR.........jeene ki ichha khatm si ho gai thi, though i attempted it in the end
paper 2 :chem- awesome as usual,physics:7.5/10,maths:thru my window i could see the beautiful sea and the bandra worli sea link, man kar raha tha wahi kud jaooo, seriously speaking: better than the last one but...
to the guys from iit-m who framed this paper, as a student, putting 84 3-markers in th 1st one doesn't help u remove the cream,
-u give us the admit card jst a weak b4 the exam
-such a cheap paper,
-u cud hv kept 1 xtra rough sheet yaar,
-centre was awful
-giving us log tables means u hvnt made an effort to make the paper decent, calculations were awful..
-u crammed so many questions together, jst see jee 2009,such a nice 1,which i wd hav ripped apart(the questions)
u ppl jst deserve those 1000 bucks,
and go on with ur 'full fledged 27 % reservation'......come on yaar where is india going.....kapil sibbal ,i will jst.........
i may b sounding pessimistic but thats how the paper was
NEways what rank will 295-315 fetch me in this paper.
ne idea guys how ws ur paper?????
and what r ur views on reservation

Paper was below JEE level. And I am glad I am giving JEE11 because this is not, what you study for in 2 years. The paper clearly gives preference to Boards toppers and "muggers" by asking questions like Bond energy of C-C ,Enthalpy of formation,Temporary hardness of water etc etc. and by asking simple formula based questions in physics.
The paper tested speed and not intelligence, and surely this year many aspirants with high apptitude will miss the list just because JEE is inclining more and more towards NCERT based questions.
Math again was tough, but if anyone just planned inside the hall how to do the paper,he would have surely attempted 80% of them.It was more of a psychological battle.
And that partial marking concept was silly. You mark all the four options and you will surely get 3 marks, because OMR scanner isn't so intelligent .It just works on binary numbers definition. So you cant expect it to detect who filled in all the options and who filled only the correct ones.Unlikie matrix questions where OMR works in a different way.
Also putting in too many Integer based questions took the flavour off from the paper. They normally use basic formulae and again support those who mug up everything without really applying their brains and analysing the questions
In a nut shell
Nothing to think,
Nothing to blink,
Filled with goofs,
Supporting the fools,
After two years of work,
this exam gave a lot of genuine aspirants a jerk.
Final rating:4/10

i also feel the same
questions wernt conceptual
i didnt attempt cordiante and vectors(unfortunatly max was from dat )
but calculus and algebra was a cake walk
physics i dont know y they gave st8forward questions like
"wen does a real gas behave lik ideal gas"
this is wat is fed up to muggin ncert student
chemistry was ok
but reallky dissapointed with others
TIP TO JUNIORS :
since iit 's standard is getting diluted every year
just finish of the portions as soon as possible
AND START WRITING TESTS AS MUCH AS U CAN
DONT GOIN DEPTH IN A PARTICULAR TOPIC ....AS IIT IS NOT GOING TO ASK SUPER TOUGH CONCEPTUAL QUESTION.ITS CLERALY VISIBLE BY THE PATTERNOF PAPER FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS........
IMPROVE ON SPEED..NOWADAYS IIT HAS BECOME LIKE WHOEVER IS BEST IN
SPEED N ACCURACY
HE IS ONLY GOING TO MAKE IT
.
OBEY WATEVER UR TEACHER OR COACHERS SAY
THEY SPEND HUGE TIME ANALYSING THE PATTERN AND STANDARD
....
FINISH NCERT BOOKS FIRSTLY ...
MANT FACT BASED QUESTIONS ALSO HAV BECOME PROMINENT PART OF PAPER
U MAY BE INTELLIGENT ......
BUT ITS HOW SMART U R THAT IS GOING TO DECIDE U R GOING TO BECOME AN IITIAN OR NOT

"The paper clearly gives preference to Boards toppers and "muggers" by asking questions like Bond energy of C-C ,Enthalpy of formation,Temporary hardness of water etc etc."
I oppose this, in chem you can't apply the pseudo concepts as taught by the instis, you gotta know the common bond energies and other common data because nothing in chem happens with simple logic like there are many factors and you gotta account for those... I am realizing this in the courses I am doing right now..
"AND ONE MORE THING IIT JEE IS HYPED
ITS LOT EASIER "
No one ever says IITJEE is tough but is thought to be the best screener and is now also succesfull you can't rate it over a year question paper, as it would successfully do its task for top 500 (say) the difference come for around 4000+ where coaching instis come into picture...

Not the kinda paper I prepared for last 3 years. I was so confident ki i'll get a good rank with all my concepts...but they weren't of much help.
It especially is bugging when I hear my pals and siblings saying " Isme toh ye formulae lagana tha!"...and went on to say something Greek.
This was an ill prepared test-paper, with questions either being too damn tough or some unknown formulae based. Only a handful of questions worked up your brain, rest worked up your fingers. I felt my knowledge had almost nothing to do with this paper. I would have rather mugged up results, formulae, hints and tips and practised writing essays to step up my speed.
Verdict: 5/10

@gang, year and again the same complaints keep coming in, JEE was crap this yr, No brainer questions were asked. JEE papers not being up to the mark for the students has become a regulation thing, and the words 'JEE is over rated crap' so cliche..
What u guys should understand, is this is part and parcel, and u should get over it as soon as possible to avoid these thots haunting ur prep.s,
@Akshay, i think Lizzie McGuire no longer comes on TV atleast in india
If it did, plz do tell me the timing and channel ;), i admit i love that show

In what we are discussing , there are a lot of things that can be justified from IITs point of view however I found these things quite perplexing :
1) instructions in the first paper: were they short of ink ?
2) rough space : short of paper i think ?
3) elaborate calculations : with almost no paper to work on and possibly eyes not in a condition to write on your desk one had to think hard whether one was attempting the physics section or the maths one.
4) ors printing error : were they making a mock paper ? i have seen coaching insitutes do better than that.
Many of you might be thinking that i am pointin out such minor niggles.
but i always held JEE in high esteem in the sense that the paper and the instructions and the ors and stuff will be perfect......

gordo see surface tension comprehension yaar
i am having doubt in it
1
student
·2010-04-12 06:04:18
my doubt is
if we visulaise practically the drop wen it comes out
its end stretches a bit so that it takes spherical shape and we get a figure lik this
so now it can be assumed that surface tension acts fully along the tube and not the cos component
