colour is nothing but light. you see, light is an electromagnetic radiation.
Hence , colurs fall in the wavelength range of visble light ie from 400nm to 700nm.
Fundamentally it is the frequency. When light travels into a medium like glass the
speed and wavelength can decrease but the frequency and color do not change. If
light does not pass thru different mediums then it is safe to talk about its color in
terms of either frequency or wavelength (one is inversely proportional to the other by
speed of light = frequency x wavelength) but fundamentally one would use
frequency.

The range of wavelengths humans can perceive, approximately from 390 nm to 750 nm, it is known as "visible light"
when a monochromatic ray of light passes thru a mediam its colour does nt change, however its wavelength changes. Obviously colour must be d property of frequency
